Adopting a Pet

Pet adoption shouldn’t be confusing or difficult.
That’s why we’ve highlighted the steps you will
go through on your adoption journey. This allows
more of our buddies find their forever homes!

All adoptions are by appointment only. We are not accepting walk ins. We apologize, we are unable to do out-of-state adoptions.

The Adoption Process

  • Step 1: My Pet Profile

    Fill out a short questionnaire that will give us a better idea of what you’re are looking for in a companion pet.

  • Step 2: Schedule a Meeting

    Once we receive your My Pet Profile, our Adoption Coordinator will email you within 24-48hrs to schedule a meeting for you to come and meet potential adoption candidates.

  • Step 3: Adoption Day!

    Once you’ve connected with that special pet, we will schedule your adoption day!

Adoption Requirements

  • Age

    All adoption candidates must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Interaction

    All members of the household must meet and interact with the potential new pet before an adoption appointment is set.

  • Already Have A Pet?

    If you have a pet already in the home, a meet and greet will be required as well. This ensures a proper match. Please also call your current vet to give permission to release records to Pound Buddies when we call to do a vet check on the other animals in the home.

  • Landlord/Property Manager Consent

    If you rent, we will need to contact your landlord or property manager to verify their pet policies.

Adoption Fees

All adoption fees include Spay or Neuter, Microchip, First Round of Vaccines, Heartworm Test, and Rabies Vaccine.

Pound Buddies reserves the right to vary adoption fees. Prices may vary depending upon the status of the animal.

Legacy Dogs

High demand breeds will be set with higher adoption fees. These adoption fees leave a legacy behind to financially help the other animals in the shelter who require emergency/medical care, or pets that have extended stay with us due to recovery or cruelty cases.

Cats

Adoption fees for kittens and adult cats vary depending upon age and other circumstances. Adoption fees for cats will be discussed with the adoption coordinator at your scheduled “meet and greet”.
